Watch me almost drown shooting a video

Post by iCONtheMicKing »

About 2 weeks ago? I'm not sure how long it's been actually. I'm on tour in Europe and I have no sense of time or day right now. Anyway me and my man Awar are about to drop a record in my "Headphone Classics" series entitled "Drifting with the Tide" b/w "Fall From Grace" & "Sparks Fly" produced by PF favorite Vanderslice.

It's a 2-song/2-part video and the first song "Drifting with the Tide" has strong water imagery. My verse is an extended nautical-mermaid metaphor about chasing unattainable love. Awar's verse deals with betrayal and the like. Real dope song that we did in March of last year and has aged so well in that our verses are more pertinent now than they were when we wrote em.

At the end of the Drifting with the Tide video Awar and I have confrontation on the pier and we fight to the death and our fight lands us in the Hudson river. Me being a true to life artist...there's no CGI for us being in the water...we actually jumped in the Hudson river with all of our clothes on and I nearly drowned. Here's the footage:

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5AAnVT4xzPo&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5AAnVT4xzPo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

It's ok. You can laugh at me. You see I'm smiling the whole way. Besides had I really drowned I wouldn't have gone in a happier way...I was working on this music that I love. Say what you want about me but don't ever question my dedication.

Also my sneakers were no more ruined than before I jumped in. We threw em in Awar's dryer and they were all good. R.I.P. to my hat & scarf though. I'd just bought them the day before for a combined $7 so it's all good.

Enjoy!

Thanks and exactly. I had on a thermal and it was hard to move my arms. I kept thinking about that one G.I. Joe PSA when the bol was like "kick your legs like a scissor" and i was treading water that way to stay up but that's incredibly hard when you got on air force ones.

Basically Awar saved my life and swimming is a lot different fully clothed hahaha.

And yeah it's always sunny in Philadelphia. Albany, NY not so much.

edit: I found the G. I. Joe jawn:

Thanks. I shoulda got swimming lessons from that kid that fell in the water at batofar in Paris.

The video.... Not soon enough. I feel like a little kid on christmas eve or a crack fiend locked in a padded room.

The bol Matt sent me the first draft of the first video the other day...lookin real good..that's where the animation in my sig came from. The video features a mermaid with her boobs out. We having a release party June 26th so it'll get sent to the blogosphere that week.

Boom!

Seemed like I was underwater way longer than it looked on camera.

I was the only one who could tell iCON was about to die

I, for one, ruined a pair of AF1s.

It was well worth it. except for that Radioactive 3rd testicle growing out my knee from being submerged in the Hudson for 4.3 seconds. Pause?

Hope everyone digs this shit
