Probably not getting any points saying this but I was a little underwhelmed. I like it, but maybe I over hyped it. Or maybe I need to give it a few more listens.

I think it was drizzle who said if outkast isnt gonna make this kind of music then kendrick should, regarding c&c. Thats kind of a big comparison tho.

EYE FELT SIMILE.

TO BE FAIR, EYE'D HIGH EXPECTATIONS AND HAVE ONLY LISTENED TWICE AND A BIT. SOME O THE PRODUCTION ON Q AND AB SOUL'S ALBUMS WERE MORE IMMEDIATELY APPEALING. SHALL LET IT MARINATE. STANDOUTS AT THIS STAGE ARE 'BITCH' AND THE TRACKS WI JAY ROCK AND EIHT.

'COPASTETIC' ON THE PHARRELL JOINT WERE DISTRACTING. TA, PARRISH.

How does the album compare with habits and contradictions?

"Its Dark and Hell Is Hot" inspired Kendrick to rap? That may be DMX's greatest accomplishment.

everyone is busting a nut over this album. I gave it a scan through and didn't think it sounded all that great. Going to give it a full listen on my way home from work.

it's not really the kind of album you scan through, you gotta at least give it one good invested listen. which isn't to say you're guaranteed to love it by any means, but it is dense enough to require close attention if you're gonna bother with it at all.

You gotta play it at home on the Denon system. Shit is really impressive.

Didn't think I'd be echoing these sentiments, but yeah, surprisingly underwhelming. His voice seriously starts to wear on me. His delivery and lyrics are fucking dope, as is the production, but his voice is not suitable for a full-length. Would definitely be interested in an instrumental version, though.

Schoolboy Q >

:icedit: - And it was the only thing I listened to for two days so I think I gave it a fair shot (nh @ "gave it a fair shot")

Only a couple songs in, but the mixes sound crisp as fuck. Can definitely feel Dre's influence sonically.

Lean towards believing his voice is strong enough to carry a full length, but the alien voice can definitely get under your skin.

I'm curious about anyone who prefers Section.80 to this. What do you find preferable about Section.80?

After my first few listens i definitely thought Section 80 was better...Then i went back and bumped Section 80 and realized how much better of a record that this album is. Its the best major label hip hop debut that i can think of since College Dropout that really woke me the fuck up and made me want to listen to music.

that nigga crazy. i bet the next album has way less rapping on it.

I'm sorry, but anyone claiming that new Kendrick Lamar album is good is a fuckin IDIOT!! I just listened to that TRA$H and it's fuckin HORRIBLE!! I barely liked TWO of the beats, but the rest were HORRIBLE!! Don't get me wrong, Kendrick is a good rapper, but he raps over the worst fuckin beats. Easily it's one of 2012's worst albums...

I get the whole Outkast-ish vibe. Some of the beats are in the same vein as ATLiens, I guess.

The album is underwhelming to say the least. And the whole story driven album gimmick is boring. Technically Kendrick Lamar is a good rapper for sure. I just don't care for him. He's like the good student who gets good grades but is just plain boring.

The only beats I liked were "Money Trees", "Good Kid" and "Sing About Me". Also, "Compton" was a decent beat, but the singing on the song was lame. 15 songs on the album, and only 4 with decent beats, but really on two good songs. What a waste of a good rapper. *shaking head*

I will say, MC Eiht's feature is dope and so is that beat, but yeah.....

I listened to it last night, and I thought that it was okay. Not as great as people are making it out as, but it wasn't trash.

Can I just say that this shit of having one thread for one artist (or in this case several artists) that spans over months or years is a horrible trend on this board.

I don't post as much as I used to, but I still use M2C as a primary source to learn about new music. This trend, that I identified above, makes it unnecessarily difficult to navigate this forum.

This is probably the most important (proper album) hip-hop debut in recent memory. Doesn't it deserve its own thread?

Mods? Admins? Gloss?

if the album is so important doesn't it deserve you spending a few minutes to read a few thread pages about it?

Good use of an Employee-style logical trap. To answer your question: sure.

But my point was it would be nice if I could scan M2C and the thread titles gave a clear indication of what the thread was about. These general "all-inclusive" threads mean that I have to go through several pages before I even know if what I was interested in or looking for is contained therein.

Twenty-page threads may give the original poster an accomplishment-boner, but they're unwieldy and unnecessary in most cases.

Just to put things in perspective: you're complaining about how a thread that's labeled 'Kendrick Lamar' in the title and gives you all possible information about him and his new album in the last few pages isn't convenient enough to cater to your Kendrick Lamar needs
