Jin - everything you need to know about jin you can see in this documentary

Image

I cant fucking stand him. he is everything that has been wrong with hip hop for the past 10 years or so wrapped up in one person. his style is corny and contrived, his whole image is a front, he picked up a phony accent, and has a shit work ethic as you will see in that video when him and his boys show up to a show in cornell where they were gonna open for nas about 6 hours late and get pissed when they cant perform like they were wronged in some way. everything about him is a front. even his song speak chinese....the dude is fucking korean. ive met him a few times selling his cd at fat beats before he was on 106 & Park and with ruff ryders and he was a nice enough guy, but honestly fuck him as a rapper.
So would you say you hate Jin?

jeru - great first record. everything else is average to shit. has a ton of talent but needs someone like primo to guide him. i did a show with him a few years back and he was wearing faded sweatpants and one of those flannel jackets that dock workers wear. it was sad.

Necro - never been a huge necro fan. I respect his business savvy, but his music isnt for me. i love some of his production work. his interviews are fucking awesome!

GURU - i feel like guru was actually a good mc at one point. Step in the Arena he was fucking amazing, he had styles patterns, flows and the voice. as he went on he always got a little less technical and it wasnt really noticable till moment of truth, which i think is hugely overrated. But he is a legend, amazing voice, and i cant say much bad about him. probably should have hung it up years ago but whatever.

Pete Nice - i used to think serch was better when i was young. but cant believe how wrong i was. pete had tons of style, good lines, and a unique flow. plus he coached college ball.

Blahzey Blahzey - i only know one of his songs and its dope so based on that he is fresh.

Shyne - he sucks. i met him the one day i worked for puffy. he seemed nice enough. my homegirl norma was puffs assistant in those days and she said he was an asshole.

Freeky Zeeky - is he part of dipset? if so his album cover with bullet teeth is the goat album cover ever.

Everlast - i still get hyped when jump around comes on. anyone else remember the old syndicate days everlast video when he was all vanilla iced out and rocking the boxing attire? he is ok, nothing special

Im not really familiar with either of them. I know some of the old ra stuff from sound bombing and crustified dibbs. They were pretty fresh joints, always enjoyed them. however i kinda lost track of his career. He did a song with biggie so that alone is a stellar career in my book.

Memph Bleek - he is a horrible under achiever. he had a few joints early that were really good. the shit 'its alright' is classic to me and he did the intro on one of jays records if im not mistaken and it was vicious. outside of that he has been mostly a letdown and glorified hype man

Did del earlier

Kurupt - he is great especially on guest appearances, the chronic albums and the first snoop album but i never checked any of the dog pound shit because i always hated daz.

Luda - guest appearance hall of famer, good for a few good singles. albums are uneven and boring. he has all the tools to be great, he just makes wack music for the most part.

Genesis was fucking ill back in the day. if you can get any of his old bobbito freestyle i highly recommend it. there was a story going around atoms, and i dont know how true it is, but wild pitch was trying to decide between him and oc and they went with oc. he ended up playing pro ball in italy for a while and i think he is working with vast on some of the LXG stuff. i liked his older stuff better.

Void was always ok. i think his voice kinda got in his way. he was pretty much standard atoms mc from that era. Konfucious on the other hand was completely ill. he was very similar to cryptic in how indepth he would get with concepts and ideas. i think he might have had more natural talent than anyone in atoms, but he just didnt really have the drive to work at it. but he was sick

i dont even remember okktagon zupreme

Wow. Never thought I would hear that name again. I don't know if anyone knows that guy, but I'm curious as to how he never did much at all even though he was seemed to have a strong hustle and good momentum in the late 90's. He made it down to some Providence battles and ridiculed people. He had connections to Apathy which seemed to turn sour at some point. I believe he was in the demigods. The last time I saw him was in Connecticut at a poetry slam of all places, and this was back in 99 or 2000.

cunninglynguists - ive only heard a track or two on some mixtapes. i thought they were pretty good. from what ive heard deacon is a pretty fresh mc and kno makes good beats.

Tone - i havent heard a lot of recorded material from tone, i have seen him live quite a bit and cyphered with him. he is a great mc. has a ton of talent, quick wit, lots of style and flow. also has sick patterns. tone was also on arsenio as a kid. so who is topping that.

Pack FM - Pack fresh as fuck. same as tone, havent heard a bunch of the recorded material but seen the shows, cyphered, bugged out etc. pack has a real solid skill set and is a really good battle mc. we battled a while back...he won. i was pissed...hahaha

Substantial - not really familiar with.

he is part of dipset, but the album cover you speak of is from Hell Rell.

Freaky has (i don't think) has really came out with an official album.

Matrix - no idea who that is

SubCon - Subcon was dope. the first single he dropped through weebeefoolish was a classic. insane verses, great style, deep lyrics, amazing voice. I havent really heard much outside of that, i heard the first album a few times and i remember being a little disappointed, while it had great moments overall it was kinda lack luster. dude was a good battle mc and a great cypher mc. i havent seen him in years so i dont know if he is still making music.

Many Styles - he was ok. he was a younger dude that came towards the end of the nyc underground hayday. He kinda just sounded like everyone. had some good flow but nothing to distinct about his sound.

Dos Noun - not at all familiar with his music. i know he wrote a huge retirement letter a year or so ago that got some good milege on this board. i will never understand why mcs, especially underground mcs write retirement diatribes. just thank the fans and be done with it.

antipop - honestly they were never really my thing. everyone i know was hella into them but they were too abstract for me. i always liked beans a lot and thought he stood out the most. his solo shit is a lot more accessible to me.

Jak Progresso - was basically lo decks spliff star right?

I think his career officially ended in a battle he had with Blueprint. That's the last I saw or heard of him anyway. Blueprint, all riled up (and presumably drunk), scrunched his face and said:

"MANY styles??? Ni**a...you ain't got ANY styles. You got ONE"

haha and that was that.
