those horns are ill man. but i can't get myself to groove to that time signature though. if you reworked this song into a regularly laid out beat, i would love this.

This is cool, but I just couldn't really get into it. The time signature really through me off. I didn't like the transitions from sample to sample, it seemed a bit awkward and took me out of the flow of the track. Parts of the track were really dope, but parts just didn't hit me. sorry, it looks like I'm in the minority on this one.

See I work in 7 a lot so this doesnt sound wierd..very fresh.
I dont like the violin sample that comes in just under 1 minute and rides into the break down.
Everything else in the track works lovely.. I cant feel that one sample tho.
The drums, guitar, and the simple horns all work very well..
Shit is hot son! Props!!

props on the idea.
and UBER props on the fucking execution. this shit is hip-hop to the center of it all, but it sits right on the fence after the left of center watching it's center of gravity loosen the fuck up. damn homie, this is damn near epic. a few of the transitions are a little clunky, but everything moves around bigger than i'm generally accustomed to. great idea, great job and making it make sense. props dude!

i think the samples themselves are good. and the idea is hot, but the execution lacked a little something for me. the transitions werent smooth enough. the flip from 4/4 to 3/4 and back again just didnt hit right to me. i think it was mostly the drum pattern. i think you werent exactly sure how to be able to do it. I've done beats in shit like 5/4 before and know how hard it can be, but if u take the time and sit down and place each hit individually to make your general drum loop, shit will work out beautifully. i think if a little more time and loving care were put into the drums on this shit, and the sample switches made to gel a little more, this could be something i could love.

first off thanks everybody for the listen and for the feedbackRemo the Great wrote:i think the samples themselves are good. and the idea is hot, but the execution lacked a little something for me. the transitions werent smooth enough. the flip from 4/4 to 3/4 and back again just didnt hit right to me. i think it was mostly the drum pattern. i think you werent exactly sure how to be able to do it. well, everything in that track was done intentionally. being greek i am very well aware of those kind of rhythms, because greek music is mostly 7/8, 5/6, 9/16 and many variations, it rarely is 4/4!
the problem is: make something with these time signatures, that doesn't sound too strange, doesn't sound like greek folk music and make it sound "hip hop", enough to make an mc wanna rap on it.
it would be a lot more easier for me to implement the traditional drum patterns, i tried it and decided to leave that for later and do something more simple instead! the drum pattern is simplistic and kinda confuses you when a kick drops when a snare was supposed to be and the loop starts over. that was done intentionally!
the other problem is, that you have to be very careful with the samples you choose if you want to make a beat like that.
but, i am now crafting some more beats with more greek feel in them for my next album. they gonna have cuts and all, or at least i am gonna try.
i love challenges.
