I think we talked about Vicious a few pages back, looks like he's going back to jail on the most bullshit charge produced lately
http://klfy.com/2015/02/26/eric-vicious ... ith-death/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Eric “Vicious” Johnson convicted of inciting a riot with death
It only took a little over three hours for a jury of 12 members to find Lafayette rapper, Eric “Vicious” Johnson guilty of inciting a riot that led to the death of an innocent man.
A jury convicted the 47-year old local rapper with inciting the riot that led to the death of 43-year old Ray Ryan.
Ryan was shot in the back after gunfire broke out during a fight near his apartment building. Police believe Johnson had gone to the apartment building to fight Ryan’s neighbor. Originally Johnson was charged with terrorizing, but that charge was later changed.
“It was in fact proven that there was a riot. By definition three or more people involved in tumultuous activity where there is a foreseeable risk of harm. In fact, in the course of that [riot] someone was killed.” said District Attorney Keith Stutes.
District Attorney Keith Stutes says that this is the first time this charge has been prosecuted in Lafayette Parish.
He adds that this charge has rarely been used in the state of Louisiana.
“I think the reason is because it fits a specific, limited type of circumstance. This case is very unique and the circumstances were very unique and fit. As the jury found fit the circumstances of inciting a riot where a death occurred .” said Stutes.
Neither the weapon, nor the bullet, that killed Ryan were ever recovered. With this charge, Johnson could face up to 21 years in prison.

Perhaps it's the rap version of us renaming Gucci Condoms to something ridiculous.odium-LSC wrote:Dudes name is Lil' Witness?

He's been Lil Witness since the 2000s, if that's any consolation: http://www.datpiff.com/Lil-Witness-Besi ... 74608.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Lil Boosie legal woes/news + Baton Rouge rap thread
Boosie dropped today as expected. Copped off iTunes which I can't remember doing in years but haven't had time to listen. Now that he's been out for a while can we make a separate thread or must he be contained within this one? Or should we wait till he clears his parole in fear of cursing da gawd?

Preferred the Life After Deathrow prequel thing personally, although the good songs on this are very good.

this is a bit like jeezy's last 2 albums.

Yeah me too but I think IDAL is right in that life after deathrow is a better overall album. It's like the closer a rapper gets to going to jail or the shorter the amount since his release, the better the music. I guess the ' more pain=Better art phenomenon ' is well documented throughout the years.chump change wrote:enjoying the new album.. but i definitely fall into teh "boosie can do no wrong" fanboy category..

theres also other possible factors like self releasing product vs major label politics in creative choices.
maybe also hungrier producers used in free releases; i dunno anything about the producers used in either project, so that's just a wild guess.

Re: Lil Boosie legal woes/news + Baton Rouge rap thread
agreed. I can't think of the name of the boosie tape that came out right after his release, the one with the pic from the news conference on it, well that shit had a few songs that couldn't be put out on a proper release for obvious reasons. Like the track with the Michael Jackson sample. I liked that song even though it has that old Gucci mane verse in it.

Re: Lil Boosie legal woes/news + Baton Rouge rap thread
This shit definitely needed more Baton Rouge producers on it because it just sounds like a generic major label street rap album which coulda come from anywhere.
Mouse only got 2 tracks (1 of which was from Life After Deathrow and the other was the overly earnest single with RHQ) and DJ B Real didn't get any, possibly because FrankieThaLuckyDog has put his own equivalent of the Based God curse on him.

Agreed, I miss that BR sound a lot. I think this album fits into Noz' 'building a classic' category, which might be why I haven't been able to get into this album as much as I would've liked.Let Jaz Down wrote:This shit definitely needed more Baton Rouge producers on it because it just sounds like a generic major label street rap album which coulda come from anywhere.
