Yes, their voices are similar. No they're style of rapping was not. Topically and stylistically, he was different. Like I've said already in this thread a few times, if his voice sounded like anyone else NO ONE would draw comparisons to Nas. It's 100% cause of his voice. So, the people who truly believed that he was Nas, in my eyes, were either trying way too hard to make this a "thing" or haven't listened to much Nas or Y.O.D.

hilarious to me how quickly the interest in this dude waned the second ppl realized he wasn't nas. If he actually was nas, nas would have had probably the most notable third act in rap vet history, but since he isn't, this dude is gonna be 'that guy who isn't nas' until the boom bap heads completely lose interest.

yeah they coulda kept it up longer. have him perform in a mask, never appear in the same spot. nas can honestly claim ignorance since he's spaced out and has no idea what's going on. good for mass appeal aka his dividends.

Not sure interest in him has really waned though. Obviously the Nas gossip calmed down so the crowd that mostly check for big name mainstream rappers don't care anymore, but he's still got a decent momentum going for an artist no one had heard of a year ago. I'd say his target audience are still on board.

I think he's dope and the new shit he dropped yesterday is really good.
The only people who seemingly fell off with their interest are the people who's only connecting factor was hoping he was Nas IE Dumbasses. But , just looking at the song plays on soundcloud for the album he dropped yesterday afternoon, there's clearly a good amount of interest there.

Yeah, I mean he went from a rapper with an Internet buzz to rapper with an almost sold-out debut LP, who's going on tour with PRhyme and getting featured in Rolling Stone. He doesn't sound like Nas at all in this old video. Droog's voice sounds more similar to that Mr.Sicc dude here than with Nas. This is just to prove how ridiculous it is to constantly compare him to Nas, I'm not claiming he's biting anyone in particular.

I guess I'm off base. My lens is mostly through seeing how he went from super buzzed about on twitter/fb to basically nil once the face got revealed. He does seem to have retained a decent core of the people interested in him in the first place.
