New single from Latyrx:

Apparently a new album is on the way as well...

Wow. That was terrible. These guys cannot rap half as well as these used to.

The timing on this is kinda funny because I listened to the first Latryx album for the first time in years yesterday. I guess it's cool they're making music together again, but this is grasping at straws. Straws from 1997.

OK. I've listened to this twice now, and I guess it's not such much "terrible" as it is boring, trite, and completely unnecessary. Half-baked, psuedo-sociopolitical backpacker-era throwback crap.

If this is what a new Latyrx album will sound like, I do not want.

No...its terrible.

I still can't believe these guys fell off as hard as they did.

Props if they're still caked up or whatever, but I can't listen to them anymore.

I can't believe this is the same duo who once created the magic known as balcony beach.

as someone who lists the song 'Latyrx' as one of the top ten most advanced and innovative songs I absolutely have ever heard in my life, this is... less than :ohsh:

:leon:

These dudes are making music for a different demographic these days. Most of their original fan base (myself included) are simply not part of that demographic.

I enjoyed this (and I've hated most of LB's solo stuff). Kinda agree with Thun in that (on one listen) it didn't strike me as radically different from their album (a personal top 15 or so).

Kinda weak that one half of a line merits a "featuring" for Boots.

you guys dont know Latyrx if you think this sounds like Latyrx. Even if this was MADE BY LATYRX.

that's like saying 'Light Your Ass on Fire' sounds like the same Busta Rhymes on the LONS album 'T.I.M.E.'

The Wreckoning (all versions) and Off With Their Heads is an example of Mc's setting the bar so got-damn high for themselves that it ends up being some shit that can't be created anymore.

fucking true.

but why didn't they keep going in that direction?

what the fuck were they smoking in 96 and 97? and who cut off the supply?

seriously, i been waiting for Lateef and Lyrics Born to make something on the Latyrx level for EVER. Seriously, that album changed my life and is a major part of why I rhyme without rules. Cause I fucking grew up on Latyrx, Company Flow, Indelibles and Siah and Yeshua, motherfucker!

but after hearing this song, i half accept that they may never do it again.

You do realize Thun probably didn't listen to it and would've said the same thing no matter what it sounded like right?

Probably didn't?

How do people here have time to check out Latyrx tracks post '99 when there's literally days of pretending to be familiar with the Beastie Boys discography pre-Hello Nasty yet ahead?
