http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/new ... ws08751m01Wale, the D.C.-based hip-hop artist who was dropped from Interscope after his 2009 debut, Attention Deficit, and signed to rapper Rick Rossג Maybach Music Group imprint at WB, turns out to be the real surprise. First-week estimates from those retailers around the country who havenגt shut down and reopened as Herman Cain campaign headquarters, peg his sophomore album Ambition, to sell between 170-190k, which puts him in the hunt for a red-hot November debut.

I don't, but they don't buy Wale CDs. People that don't regularly check rap sites have no idea who he is. And I'd be willing to bet that women make up less than 1% of people that check sites like 2dopeboyz.Escobar305 wrote:dont underestimate the women buy the cds theoryKid That's Lifeless wrote:Dude's the weakest link in MMG and he's selling that much? The fuck is wrong with people? He had the worst verses on Self Made. Fuck Ross for promoting this hack.

wale's fanbase has been well outside the blog sites for a while now. two of his singles from the album that way and lotus flower bomb cater to women. i thought this was a well known fact he has a strong women fan base

Kid, I know you like talk shit and make your point but, to a degree, Esco's right. I'm not going to say those numbers right as far as projections but its not like he doesn't have a fanbase outside of what you're talking about. We'll see what happens with this album. I've heard it and its ok. Starts out real dope and just kind of follows a trend way too much after about track 4 or so. And then bounces between whats in now and something beyond that.Escobar305 wrote:Kid That's Lifeless wrote:I don't, but they don't buy Wale CDs. On another note, the DC City Paper took some shots at him:

You're from the area and you know this. Everytime the City paper has written something on hip hop, they leave out a lot of shit. They'll cover certain topics and avoid a good portion of whats really going on within the scene. No diss to them because who knows...the writers probably did what they could and the editors made them take shit out.blingedoutcerealbowl wrote:noz wrote a 3000-word essay on wale's twitterardamus wrote:On another note, the DC City Paper took some shots at him:

Anyways, with that said, I think this dude knew that Wale wouldn't do what he saying that the audience was expecting him to do for DC which was draw in major appeal. However, what one rapper has done that in any major city where the hip hop scene is pretty much diverse? I'd say the main notion to why he probably wrote this is to show a point of how the marketing of a public persona and interaction with fans can affect you.
