DTMD ft. Kev Brown, YU, Oddisee, etc. (Mellow Music Group)

Post by ardamus »

At the request of vinylpops, I'm posting this. They're good folks though. Dunc on the beats and Toine on the lyrics. If you remember, Dunc had a beat on the Diamond District album.

1.Intro 01:03
2.Makin' Dollas (free) 03:24
3.Untitled (feat. Oddisee) 02:20
4.Been Trying 02:02
5.You 03:43
6.The Struggle Is Real 02:38
7.Rainy Day 01:42
8.Raw (feat. Godly MC & Kev Brown) 03:25
9.Fantastic 05:03
10.A Loan For The Lonely 05:30
11.Keep On (feat. yU) 04:55
12.Sea Me Sun 03:31
13.God Theory 03:55
14.95 Live (feat. Quartermaine) 03:57
15.The Flame 09:33
Duncג€™s rich, full-bodied production serves as a natural backdrop to Toineג€™s technically astute rhymes, layered deep with smooth instrumentation evocative of such luminaries as J. Dilla, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Pete Rock, each of whom shaped the classic hip hop sounds of Duncג€™s childhood. Toineג€™s energy and bright delivery belie wisdom beyond his years, inspiring deep reflection as easily as sharp battle fare and complex rhyme schemes. Maintaining a close working relationship with PG neighbor Oddisee and assuming a strong presence in the collective atmosphere of the DMVג€™s hip hop scene, DTMD appeared separately on MMGג€™s ג€œHelpless Dreamerג€ compilation, Toine rhyming on ג€œDifferent Nowג€ and Dunc producing Stik Figaג€™s ג€œFrom the Top.ג€ Now the debut album Makin' Dollas hits itunes for an early pre-release exclusive!

Yep, just gave it a quick scan and not bad at all... Production is good and mc holds it down just fine.

Fantastic era Slum Village fans will more than likely dig "You"

Yeah been bumping this album all week, actually heard someone else playing You out of their whip yesterday....DMV really getting love from its own people now....I'm almost proud and shocked that hip-hop is having a rebirth in this area and in the way it has.

A lot of good projects came out this year from the DMV that won't get recognized until later. But yeah, DTMD is definitely influenced by that whole Dilla era and they got Low Budget (Kev Brown, Oddisee, Kaimbr, Roddy Rod,etc.) as their mentors.

Good shit right here. They have come a long way since their Basics EP, imo.

They definitely take influence the Dilla era. Part of this album is a definite tribute to it. Hope to see them progress and make more moves. They've got a good future ahead of them.
