He said at the show that he's a foreigner and his myspace says something similar, but he doesn't have any discernible accent, at least not that I picked up on.Fuzzy Logic wrote:I just heard Paton Locke recently I think. From Florida or something
I'm kicking myself for never seeing Edan live up until this point. The routines he puts together are next level, some of the craziest shit I've ever seen or heard. Fucking great show.

Cats ain't up on Paten Locke aka DJ Therapy from the ABs aka Asamov?
Ahhh man, yall missin out....
He's ill and the record he released like 2 years ago was the best I bought that year.....
Turntablism and dope MC pairing, sounds like a real dope show yo.
BTW, from what I gather (I have met him a few times) Paten (Pay-ten) is a Cape Verdean cat originally from Mass that moved to FLA and lived every where from Europe to where ever USA persuing music....
I vouche for him. His shit is real dope.
All Boston heads that got outta Mass seem to be linking up all over the planet and producing frESH material and shows.
I like that shit.
Enjoy.

Edan was holding some sort of effects pedal in his hand (looked like it was normally for a guitar, but it was hooked up to the mic) and playing it like an instrument, achieving varying distortion and reverb at specific points in his rhymes. That was insane.
He and Paten did some pretty impressive turntable routines, also lots of incredible back and forth rhyming, not really any dancing. Edan was cutting and rhyming at the same time for a while, and basically just playing everything up there like a scientist.
The only traditional instrumentation consisted of Edan simultaneously playing an acoustic guitar and kazoo on some funny interlude shit here and there.
There was no mention of any upcoming projects (at least not that I heard). I copped the Echo Party vinyl but haven't listened to it yet.
And yea, Paten definitely held it down. Before Edan took the stage he kicked some dope solo shit.

Here's Edan and Paten performing live last year. They did this stuff, but better IMO.
