I did it and then I think I met her and we were both on 3rd Earth at the time so I figured that'd be awkward and I decided against putting it out. Damn Jigga can you just executive produce my life?Philaflava wrote:And you would have been MURS today if you listened to me. Bru said he wanted to come here and defend himself against the Doom thing but that it took too long to register, and that he didnt think it was cool to spend 10 bucks just to expedite the process, so i figured i would come here and let yall know.
Either way I would like to add that when he said, "I rolled with Al my pal" that he's talking about me, because i picked him up from his crib that night and we that rolled to Cleveland to see that show. It was a 2 hr drive. And i DO remember standing behind Bru at the bar at the grog shop in Cleveland and he was like "JEAN GRAE JUST RUBBED MY BACK PRINT!!!!!" I remember being faded but looking over his shoulder and seeing her (it was her show by the way), and i was in shock, but i cannot refute his claims or call him a stalker because he talked me into driving to that show, and he made shit happen that night. We laughed about her touching his back all the way home and ever since then.
(Also, for people who are familiar with my 1988 record and the song "tramp" there's a reference to my dude Bru in there. Same cat. Small world. Dude does his thing.)
I'm not here to say whether the song is good or bad, but i do believe that shit is accurate.

I feel your point. Unfortunately, i think it might get obscured by the fact that many of this forums posters are pretty adamant about never purchasing music.Philaflava wrote:blueprint wrote:Bru said he wanted to come here and defend himself against the Doom thing but that it took too long to register, and that he didnt think it was cool to spend 10 bucks just to expedite the process, so i figured i would come here and let yall know.some people don't think it's cool to purchase music either.
But in general, yes people should support shit that they like or wanna participate in.
At any rate, here's what Bru wrote:
More Bru Lei shit for cats that have never heard him before:the thread has been staying relevant on there two cents forum.....
alot of haters over there , i don't have a problem with that...
they sayin i directly bit mf dooms style, i don't even listen to doom like that!
i don't even got 1 doom song in my i-pod and i own none of his cd's....
i tried to register to that site, and i was like yeah i'm a say my peace,
but they have this damn minumum 20 days waiting time before you can post comments or login as a member!
the kicker is----> if you pay $10bucks you get instantly activated..... hahaha
it aint' that serious, it's a compliment if anything to me
comparison's are funny and the most random thing any one could say about your work
if all they know is doom then so be it, it's only one song anyway
i love when cats HATE HATE HATE HATE

i wasn't referencing myself.Thun wrote:Point us to one early recording of yours where you use this style.sean wrote:bru is that dude.
good shit.
as far as biting doom, nope.
that is a traditional style, and if you think doom created it, then i think you developed your ears during the rise and fall of hhi.
i always had a tendancy to yell or raise my voice too much on the earlier pre-overcast shit. plus my voice was always a little higher pitched and squeeky.
but personally, i hear that style, and it reminds me of 89-93.
ubc, posdnous, kurious, tash, some early beatnuts (when they weren't yelling), even a little bit of g rap.
either way, i don't feel as if it's a style that can be attributed solely to doom.

Your boy Bru is active btw. Here is the thing about the express activation option, it isn't a scheme to help me cop my next Bentley. For years my inbox would be flooded daily with "yo! approve my activation." I can't stop everything and just do that because we do screen every member that registers. Especially when we had 75 new registers daily at one point. It's just way too time consuming and it got out of hand.
The express activation allows a red flag to go up for any new member. An email is sent directly to my phone and it allows me to activate immediately. The others will get activated but it "may" take up to 20 days. In most cases it doesn't but it "may" so muthafuckers don't inundate my inbox with their status request.
A lot of forums charge members to post or have a yearly fee. Some offer services like PMing, avatars or signatures that forces you to pay. We charge nothing and force no one to pay us for any of the services we provide. I just ask people have patience and if they want to support us and take advantage of that express activation, then fantastic. If not, just wait until your membership gets approved. I don't think that's unreasonable.
I know you don't have an issue with this but I thought I'd take the time to clarify once again.

The rapper in question sounds more like Doom than any of those other rappers you mentioned. By a long shot.sean wrote:i wasn't referencing myself.Thun wrote:Point us to one early recording of yours where you use this style.sean wrote:bru is that dude.
