1. Scarface has had the greatest longevity than any other rapper? Yes.

2. Scarface is a top 8 emcee? Not to me. I understand when people say that he is, though.

3. Who will make a good album first, Jadakiss or Ludacris? I like all (or most) of Luda's albums. Jada's solos are always a huge letdown. Ludacris for sure.

4. Buckwild is a better producer than Madlib? Maybe 8 years ago, not now.

5. The two best rappers from the Hiero camp have always been Casual and Pep Love? I always thought it was Del and Pep Love, but Casual gets props. Those are my top 3.

6. Out of the 17 Too $hort studio albums, his best to date is the '93 release "Get In Where You Fit In?" I don't know, not a huge Too Short fan.

7. You don't buy rap magazines anymore (Source, XXL..)? Never did, but I'm 21 and white so I feel like my opinion on this matter is worthless.

8. Rank these producers from best to worst--Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh & Havoc -- Alchemist, Mannie Fresh, Muggs, Havoc, Q-Tip (I really like Tip's beats, I just don't think he's made as many dope beats as these guys... unless you get into the whole debate of him really producing most of the tribe shit, then he would go #1)

9. The only Juice Crew member that shouldn't retire today is Masta Ace? I still think Big Daddy Kane can rock a verse every now and again. His voice is just so dope that someone can ghostwrite a verse for him and he will murder it. Plus, remember that performance at the VH1 awards a few years back? Aside from Kane and Ace though, they are toast.

10. If I said DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Dr. Dre & Marley Marl made up the 5 best producers of all-time would you agree? If not, list your five. That would be my top five... maybe throw Ali Shaheed Muhammed in as #6? But yeah, solid list.

1. Scarface has had the greatest longevity than any other rapper?
Yes.
2. Scarface is a top 8 emcee?
Top _ emcee lists are gay but he's definately one of the best.
3. Who will make a good album first, Jadakiss or Ludacris?
Both of these guys have made decent albums.
4. Buckwild is a better producer than Madlib?
Whoa >>>>> Mablib
5. The two best rappers from the Hiero camp have always been Casual and Pep Love?
Don't know shit about Pep Love but Casual is definately the best rapper in that crew.
6. Out of the 17 Too $hort studio albums, his best to date is the '93 release "Get In Where You Fit In?"
I prefer Life Is..Too $hort, personally.
7. You don't buy rap magazines anymore (Source, XXL..)?
Flip through the Source, occasionally buy XXL, always buy Murder Dog and Hip Hop Connection.
8. Rank these producers from best to worst--Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh & Havoc
1. Q Tip
2. Mannie Fresh
3. Alchemist
4. Havoc
5. Muggs
9. The only Juice Crew member that shouldn't retire today is Masta Ace?
They should all be retired other than maybe one cameo verse every couple of years on a suitable song.
10. If I said DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Dr. Dre & Marley Marl made up the 5 best producers of all-time would you agree? If not, list your five.
Oh, i dunno.

1. Scarface has had the greatest longevity than any other rapper?

you can definitely make that arguement.

2. Scarface is a top 8 emcee?

he wouldnt make my list but i wouldnt fault anyone for making that arguement

3. Who will make a good album first, Jadakiss or Ludacris?

neither. luda will come closer though

4. Buckwild is a better producer than Madlib?

yes

5. The two best rappers from the Hiero camp have always been Casual and Pep Love?

no. casual yes, pep no. i always liked opio and tajai better

6. Out of the 17 Too $hort studio albums, his best to date is the '93 release "Get In Where You Fit In?"

havent listened to enough too short to know.

7. You don't buy rap magazines anymore (Source, XXL..)?

nope. i dont really buy anything rap related anymore.

8. Rank these producers from best to worst--Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh & Havoc

havoc
manny fresh
alchemist
muggs
q-tip

9. The only Juice Crew member that shouldn't retire today is Masta Ace?

arent they all pretty much retired anyway? personally i like slaughterhouse era masta ace best but he seems to be doing his thing. i think most old rappers like old metal groups and rock bands should only play do review shows.

10. If I said DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Dr. Dre & Marley Marl made up the 5 best producers of all-time would you agree? If not, list your five.

probably im sure you can make arguements for quik, large pro, bomb squad, and prince paul as well.

:naswtf: :naswtf: :naswtf: :naswtf:

I don't know if its cuz you're only 21 or from :ohcanada: but you realize that Ali barely touched the boards. In fact, Q-Tip handled the majority of the production during the ATCQ days. Ali was the DJ, he is like what Battlecat is to Snoop or Mista Sinister was to Common years ago.

The fact you would put Ali in you top 5-6 list but went on to say just moments earlier that Tip didn't have enough beats to his credit is simply mind numbing.

Philaflava wrote:1. Scarface has had the greatest longevity than any other rapper?

Yeah it appears so. He puts up an excellent GOAT argument at this point, but most of this board would never accept him as such.

2. Scarface is a top 8 emcee?

I don't think you can have him lower than top 5, for me it's either 1 or 2 depending on my mood that day.

3. Who will make a good album first, Jadakiss or Ludacris?

They both already have in my opinion, but I think Luda makes better albums than Kiss generally, and even his always have a fair amount of filler. Guess it just depends how you define "good." For me an album with 6-8 good tracks is good. 10 and above and you start to make an argument for great.

4. Buckwild is a better producer than Madlib?

Umm. No shit. What's that question mark for?

5. The two best rappers from the Hiero camp have always been Casual and Pep Love?

I never really listened to Pep like that so I dunno. I've heard good things about him. Casual was/is dope though.

6. Out of the 17 Too $hort studio albums, his best to date is the '93 release "Get In Where You Fit In?"

Maybe. I dont' know I haven't listened to all of them. I will say his work pre-97-98 is much better than his more recent stuff IMO.

7. You don't buy rap magazines anymore (Source, XXL..)?

Yeah not really, probably haven't bought a source in 5-8 years at least, and XXL maybe 2 years. Most of the good stuff is online now anyway so whatever.

8. Rank these producers from best to worst--Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh & Havoc

Mannie Fresh, Alchemist, Havoc, Muggs (geez, that sounds horrible... fuck it. They're all great though, and Hav was the best at one point as was Muggs... nowadays though that's the order I'd put their stuff in.)

9. The only Juice Crew member that shouldn't retire today is Masta Ace?

Nah I'd still like to hear another G Rap album over good production and a Kane album. Doubt either will happen though.

10. If I said DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Dr. Dre & Marley Marl made up the 5 best producers of all-time would you agree? If not, list your five.

I dunno. That article for Doc Rodriguez has me thinking, as do various things I've read in Brian Coleman books and elsewhere. BUT assuming we accept their catalogs at face value, those are 5 of the top 10. Personally I think I'd put Extra P over Pete Rock probably. But I don't have a big issue with anybody on that list.

1. Nah...KRS
2. No but he's up there...tough to judge those kind of things though
3. Ludacris...I was never a big fan of Jadakiss
4. Madlib sucks...Buckwild is a great producer
5. Del??
6. N/A
7. Heck no
8. Havoc, Q-Tip, Muggs, Alchemist, Mannie Fresh
9. Are u kiddin me?...I'd look for a new BDK or Biz or G Rap or Shan record more than Masta Ace
10. Tough to say although I dont think I would put Dre or Marley on that list...replace them with Large Professor and whoever else

1. Scarface has had the greatest longevity than any other rapper?
I wouldn't argue with that.

2. Scarface is a top 8 emcee?
Yup

3. Who will make a good album first, Jadakiss or Ludacris?
Luda probably.

4. Buckwild is a better producer than Madlib?
Bucwild and it's not even close.

Casual for sure, not sure about Pep Love.

6. Out of the 17 Too $hort studio albums, his best to date is the '93 release "Get In Where You Fit In?"
Haven't heard all his albums to comment on that.

7. You don't buy rap magazines anymore (Source, XXL..)?
No point really. Why would you fork out cash for pages of ads and writers' opinions paid for by record labels?

8. Rank these producers from best to worst--Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh & Havoc

I'd be more hyped for a BDK album than probably anyone else's album in 2008.

5. Now, yes, but not always- Del used to kill ish more.
6. Not sure. not too familiar with his discography

1. Scarface has had the greatest longevity than any other rapper?

ehhmmmmm......maybe....u could make that argument and i wouldn't disagree enough to care

2. Scarface is a top 8 emcee?

ditto

3. Who will make a good album first, Jadakiss or Ludacris?

jadakiss....cuz he'll work with the better producers, and if he realizes his days of being a pop star have come and gone and that he'll never have a song more popular than "Why" , and then doens't bother doing the standard mariah carey or riahanna hook or JD song...then i think he could make a really dope album, in theory

4. Buckwild is a better producer than Madlib?

i got em about even

5. The two best rappers from the Hiero camp have always been Casual and Pep Love?

i thought that was obvious...with pep love being a distant second...which is more a big up to casual than a knock on pep love

6. Out of the 17 Too $hort studio albums, his best to date is the '93 release "Get In Where You Fit In?"

i'm not a big enough too short enthusiast to have a credible opinion on all 17 of his albums...i cannot answer this

7. You don't buy rap magazines anymore (Source, XXL..)?

nope

8. Rank these producers from best to worst--Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh & Havoc

alc, muggs,havoc,q-tip, MF

9. The only Juice Crew member that shouldn't retire today is Masta Ace?

why do people act like that last masta ace album wasn't a dud?

10. If I said DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Dr. Dre & Marley Marl made up the 5 best producers of all-time would you agree? If not, list your five.

i'd take out marley and replace him with rick rubin or bomb squad

1. Scarface has had the greatest longevity than any other rapper? it's possible... can't think of of anyone else that's been so consistent (and that's even gotten better as he's aged) off the top of my head
2. Scarface is a top 8 emcee? yup[
3. Who will make a good album first, Jadakiss or Ludacris? Luda; he's done it twice already with his first two albums (especially the second).
4. Buckwild is a better producer than Madlib? uhh Buckwild
5. The two best rappers from the Hiero camp have always been Casual and Pep Love? eh... just haven't cared about these dudes in so many years that I couldn't say. Casual yeah, I guess, but I couldn't name a second fav from Hiero.
6. Out of the 17 Too $hort studio albums, his best to date is the '93 release "Get In Where You Fit In?" not his biggest fan, but from the albums of his i've owned or listened to, yeah
7. You don't buy rap magazines anymore (Source, XXL..)? I'll buy XXL (and Rolling Stone) just for reading material on the transit when I don't have a book
8. Rank these producers from best to worst--Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh & Havoc: Q-Tip, The Alchemist, Havoc, DJ Muggs, Mannie Fresh
9. The only Juice Crew member that shouldn't retire today is Masta Ace?I guess... although as much as he gets jocked on here, his recent shit doesn't have all that much reply value to me (minus like three joints on Disposable Arts and "Nostalgia")
10. If I said DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Dr. Dre & Marley Marl made up the 5 best producers of all-time would you agree? If not, list your five.Marley and a slew of others could fight for that fifth spot, but otherwise, I'd definitely agree

4. Probably. Madlib has more range [/quote]

"Whoa!" to "I Got A Story To Tell" to "O-Zone" (Original Version) to "Time's Up" to "Stress" to "Neva Die Alone"
to "Like Father, Like Son" is a pretty good range I'd say.

1. Scarface has had the greatest longevity than any other rapper?

not in my book...

2. Scarface is a top 8 emcee?

Again, not in my book...

3. Who will make a good album first, Jadakiss or Ludacris?

I struggle to see either coming good... I prefer Luda, but struggle with his choice in beats...

4. Buckwild is a better producer than Madlib?

Without doubt...

5. The two best rappers from the Hiero camp have always been Casual and Pep Love?

Casual, certainly... Not so sure on Pep though...

6. Out of the 17 Too $hort studio albums, his best to date is the '93 release "Get In Where You Fit In?"

Possibly...

7. You don't buy rap magazines anymore (Source, XXL..)?

False... I cop both the Source and XXL from time to time, depending on who's being featured, and I still buy every issue of HHC and Wax Poetics...

8. Rank these producers from best to worst--Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh & Havoc

Q-Tip...
DJ Muggs...
Havoc...
Alchemist...
Mannie Fresh...

9. The only Juice Crew member that shouldn't retire today is Masta Ace?

I'm a big Ace fan, so continue to check for him (look out for his up coming collaboration with Australian group Funkoars), but I am just as keen for any material from Biz Markie (his joint on that Top Shelf album last year was great) or Kane... G Rap's latest let me down, but I'll continue to check for him...

10. If I said DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Dr. Dre & Marley Marl made up the 5 best producers of all-time would you agree? If not, list your five.

No... I'd replace Rza and Dre... Large Professor would be a definite and the other spot can be fought out between Bomb Squad, Beatnuts, Showbiz, Buckwild, Diamond, Lord Finesse or Prince Paul...

1. Scarface has had the greatest longevity than any other rapper?

You can definitely make that argument.

2. Scarface is a top 8 emcee?

He wouldn't make my list but i wouldn't fault anyone for making that argument. Top 8 - specific like whoa.

3. Who will make a good album first, Jadakiss or Ludacris?

Don't really care.

4. Buckwild is a better producer than Madlib?

Oh yeah - definitely. I'm not a Madlib hater by any means, but he's not even close.

5. The two best rappers from the Hiero camp have always been Casual and Pep Love?

Casual definitely. The rest all blend into one if i'm honest, except Del.

6. Out of the 17 Too $hort studio albums, his best to date is the '93 release "Get In Where You Fit In?"

Haven't listened to enough Too $hort to know. I like "Get In Where You Fit In" though.

7. You don't buy rap magazines anymore (Source, XXL..)?

Don't really by any music magazines anymore.

8. Rank these producers from best to worst--Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh & Havoc

Havoc
Alchemist
Muggs
Q-tip
Manny Fresh

9. The only Juice Crew member that shouldn't retire today is Masta Ace?

Hmm - yeah, probably. Biz is doing beer ads over here now ffs, and when's the last time Marley Marl ripped anything. Ages ago, thats when.

10. If I said DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Dr. Dre & Marley Marl made up the 5 best producers of all-time would you agree? If not, list your five.

I'd replace Dre with Bomb Squad, or maybe Large Pro...
