no need to get upset. grandmasters is my favorite album in recent years, you can call it trash all you want but you'll never take that opinion away from me and all the others who think it was a great album. i'd also put liquid swords above anything that monch has done. to each his own, both choices are logical.richard lamplighter wrote:grandmasters easily trumps what monche's done lately.
what the fuck is this cat talking about
grandmasters was garbage son
gza's sounded bored as fuck on the mic for years
next you gonna tell us that gza's guest verse's on the JMT songs were imspectabulous
liquid swords is a top 10 album of all time for me. but im sorry, as an emcee's emcee, pharoah is the best to ever do it. it's that simple. nobody's ever done what he's done how he's done it on the microphone. ever.

I'm on a crusade against GZA cause I think he's gone downhill since Wu Tang Forever? I think Liquid Swords is better than Grandmasters too...richard lamplighter wrote: & icesickle is hilarious in this thread, trying to downplay the fuckin gza. i mean i get it man, you think what you think and all, but your opinions basically scream Never Hang Out With This Dude Ever. on a crusade against the gza, who the fuck does that?

GZA's a top 30 MC, easy. But he's not as good as he once was; end of story son. It sounded like he was on nyquil all through Grandmasters. Monch, on his new mixtape and on his solo, was as good as he was in his prime. Monch also comes up with new styles each album, while GZA's still stuck doing relatively the same thing. Advantage Monch.

It's a tough call. GZA might have the better catalog, but he also has more material that is subpar.HomieDontPlayDat wrote:i'm a gza fan, but to me monch is perhaps the best pure talent in hip hop.
It's really tough to compare them because Monch is a freak of nature. His talent/skill is superhuman. He is in the same category as Rakim, KRS, Kool G Rap, BDK and few others. Don't get me wrong - GZA is amazing at what he does, but he is a great craftsman who carefully honed his technique through years of hard work and dedication.
Pharoahe Monch simply does things that no one else can do.

sure, but how much does he do it. which is really what it comes down to with this comparison.Money Gripp wrote:It's a tough call. & i'm not trying to say that grandmasters isn't gza that's lost a step. but that's some gza vs gza shit. comparing him to his work of old, yes, there's some falling off. comparing him to the rest of the rap world, including monche, he still rules. besides three songs, what has monche done? the more i think about it, the less the argument even makes sense. just the amount of quality material gza has produced over the years...trumps monche

People have different tastes. People picking Gza over Monch is not difficult to imagine.
But then again, I voted for him, too, so I guess us white folk simply can't get enough Pharoahe.
honestly, shut the fuck up.God damn, you are fucking annoying.

i love it when fucking idiots like you iterate that people have different opinions and tastes like you're saying something that hasn't been said before, it really kills me.

Ok Dr. behavioral psychology. You can save the "can't we all just get along" speech for the guy that's actually interested in online cameraderie on an online forum. You must make friends very easily. There's better ways to get engaged in an argument.
I'll give you that, you're right. I'm just shocked at the amount of Wu dickriding on this board. It's like it doesn't matter what material a man drops; as long as he's a core Wu member, it's a classic. It's just not that serious.

why is it a No Brainer? GZA is a great rapper....... Monche does have a sick flow but he hasn't dropped anything since " Internal Affairs" and that was what 1999? 2000? And not only that GZA is apart of alot more classic songs and " Liquid Swords" .... c'mom man..... that's one of the illest rap albums period....Event wrote:i thought this was a no brainer... i am really surprised at how many ppl vote for gza

basically. I think cats are getting too caught up in delivery in this poll. I mean I can see the argument for Pharoahe, but to deny that there is at least an equally valid argument for GZA is pretty dimwitted.HustleCrowe wrote:why is it a No Brainer?
