Re: billy woods
Cool interview, definitely. And yeah, the conspiracy theory shit is grating as fuck. It gets close lots of times to being a decent interpretation of history, but then it just goes so far off the rails and totally falls apart. I have students who get into it sometimes and I always try to talk them ba...

Re: billy woods
Yeah, I actually am kinda starting to dig that Canyons verse too, but that whole song is a bit too much for me. Scales is great though, that Wire sample is perfect. Lost Blocks and Borrowed Time are both really nice songs. Yeah, whole thing is good. Different, and unexpected, but good.

Re: billy woods
My favorites are Dark Woods, RPM, and Warmachines. Agree that it's more scattershot than any of Woods shit from the last few years (since Cowardly Threats, I'd say), but I think I kinda dig that about it. It's like sketches, not really as cohesive and fully formed. I was on the fence with some of th...

I found it on the /mu/ boards, I think just by googling the title and "/mu/", but it's seriously worth a purchase. Really really good album. The second half is my shit.

Album is great, much more down tempo and jazzy than I expected.
Got the leak, still will cop the official tomorrow.

Re: Longshot: lyrics about police roundups
Yeah, there's Woods verses that I know mention roundups (if not by name, at least by concept), but I can't recall what they are. If you remember any, lemme know. The Coup one is good. The Cube one is okay, but I'm looking more for things about 'roundups' than just tales of multiple arrests at once. ...

Longshot: lyrics about police roundups
Similar to a thread I started a few months back looking for lyrics mentioning police dogs, I'm again trying to help a researcher friend.
This time, I'm looking for lyrics about police roundups and mass arrests. This one's a longshot, I know, but if anyone can think of any it would be cool.

Re: Armand Hammer (Elucid & woods)
That whole project sounds good. I like L'Orange a lot.
I went back to Bird Eats Snake recently, and now I'm stuck on it. Took me a while to totally catch up to how good Elucid is, but the A&H stuff sold me. There's no one else I enjoy listening to as much right now.

Odd that this thread is here. I just pulled out Ghosts of the Great Highway three days ago and been jamming it since. One of my favorite albums from that time. This Benji shit fucking kills.

fourize, what do you mean? I am saying I saw Necro literally allowing a naked white girl to gyrate on stage with 20 people around and hundreds of people in the crowd, and he stood behind her to make sure nobody did anything to hurt her. I don't got a problem with that. I wasn't noting anything wron...

Not for nothin', but this is one of the most problematic reflections of patriarchal/misogynist attitudes in this whole 'incident'/thread.Mindbender Futurama wrote: I saw Necrodamus come over and protect that little girl's innocence and purity like a protective father with some very liberal views on sexuality.

Good picks Versive and Bengi. As an aside, I heard the end of that Woods verse as "War in the air as you play with your friends".

Beatwise, I agree. Overall, I don't know. They're both great. Interviewing them this week, hopefully tomorrow. yeah they're definitely both great. i need some time to let this sink in but first impression is this EP is a lot more accessible and consistent. i love the LP but it had a few songs i did...

Songs about police dogs
A friend asked me for recommendations of songs with lines or verses about police K9 units. Other than 99 Problems, anyone got any? I know there's lots more out there.

Re: smellin' like a Bonnaroo (isbell)
Oh and also, if you haven't seen Isbell live, do it. I've seen him a bunch; with DBT, with 400 Unit, and solo. All are impressive to say the least. He sounds better live than 99% of others, and it's only live that you become fully aware of the fact that he's probably the best guitar player working. ...

Re: smellin' like a Bonnaroo (isbell)
Yeppp this Isbell is really dang good. As for DBT stuff, I think decoration day is the best album, but there's some serious gems on all of em. I agree that Isbell is mostly unchallenged among his peers when it comes to writing, but if anyone comes close it's Patterson Hood. Cooley has some serious c...

Not sure if this counts as "behind the scenes" but Mike Dean definitely made a huge impact without most people knowing anything about him.
